Misty Schmidt is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Texas (License #204672). With a focus on helping individuals, couples, and families, Misty brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice.
Education and Background:
Misty earned her BA in Social and Behavioral Sciences, with a minor in Management and Organizational Leadership, from George Fox University in Portland, OR. Building on her passion for family therapy, she pursued her MS in Marriage and Family Therapy, specializing in Medical Family Therapy, at Texas Woman's University. During her studies, Misty completed a transformative internship at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she honed her skills in medical family therapy, collaborating with physicians, social workers, and psychiatrists in an integrated medicine approach.
Continuing her commitment to professional growth, Misty is currently focused on her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at TWU. She has also expanded her horizons through international study at the Center for Strategic Therapy in Italy.
Professional Involvement and Volunteering:
Dedicated to making a positive impact in her community, Misty is an active volunteer for the Denton County LOSS Team (Local Outreach for Suicide Survivors). Her experience in Crisis Intervention allows her to provide essential support during challenging times. She is an esteemed member of various professional organizations, including CFHA (Collaborative Family Healthcare Association), AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy), TAMFT (Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy), and SAMFT (Student Association of Marriage and Family Therapy). In addition, Misty holds chair and committee positions in three of these esteemed associations, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the field. She is also the President of the Doctoral Students Organization at Texas Woman's University.
